Holiday Hours and GIFTS.

With ten days left until Christmas, we're sure everyone is rushing about with their holiday preparations (because we sure are!) With this in mind, we'd like to make you all aware of some small adjustments to our hours.

On Sunday, 23 December, we'll be open from 8:30AM to 2:00PM.

On 24 and 31 December, we will close at 4:00PM instead of 5:30PM.

The shop will be closed on 25 and 26 December, as well as 1 and 2 January.

And now for the more interesting news...

From now until closing on December 31st, come in to see our fantastic holiday display, and leave with a little something! With every in-store purchase of $50 or more before taxes, our customers will receive a FREE Amaryllis kit, valued at $12.95! Bring a little life into the oncoming winter months by watching this stately flowering plant grow and blossom. While supplies last, of course.

Enjoy the rest of this festive season!

Step into Christmas (and Hanukkah, too!)

Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, begins tonight. Can you believe how early it is this year?
Celebrating our first festive season in our new home has sparked definite excitement in the Edgewood team. Not only do we get to create new traditions and forge new memories, but we have this fantastic new space to decorate!

Indeed, our holiday display is more elaborate than it's ever been. We've sourced lovely seasonal music that plays all day in the showroom (thanks to our friends at Galactique Recordings and their amazing Abnormally Attracted to Christmas playlist series, which can be found HERE,) and have even put up a Christmas tree! In addition, our crop of Poinsettias is the best we've seen in years - so full and sturdy, and the colours are so bright. The Cyclamen are also stellar, and we're welcoming Azaleas back into stock after an absence of several months.

We invite you to come visit Edgewood during this holiday season and experience the many sights, smells, and sounds we've cultivated here. Here are a few of the delights to be found...

Edgewood Profile in the Gazette!

Last Monday, Edgewood was fortunate enough to be profiled in the Montreal Gazette!
Paul Delean came in and had a sit-down with Murray and Corinne, and even travelled to our old Hudson location for a last peek at the greenhouses. The article was the third most-read article on the Gazette's website that day. Great exposure and yet more great things for us in our new shop!

Introducing Loofy!

Loofy is an American Eskimo, and has become an unlikely fixture of our new space.

Bred as an alert dog, Loofy is not very well-suited to our bustling Hudson location - he is apt to give us a "helpful" bark to let us know when customers walk in! But the quiet work-in-progress that is our future home is right up his alley - and, like an alley, it is the perfect spot in which to chase his ball!

Loofy has been at our new shop on Milton nearly every day during this renovation phase, and quite enjoys his role as resident canine. Here are some photos we have snapped during the last few weeks:

Once we reopen on July 10th, Loofy will go back to spending his days at home. But, in the meantime, we love having this fluffy "supervisor" around as we ready our new digs!

Launch Party and Press!

Heya, gang!

It's been a long while since I posted here, but our impending move is well worth a couple of words.
I, personally, am absolutely thrilled about the transition: We are none of us who we were five, ten, or twenty years ago, and the same can be said for Edgewood. It makes sense to move to a space that encourages our continued growth and sustainability, and heralds the promise of exciting new things for our business!

That being said, I would like to extend a cordial invitation, on behalf of the Edgewood team, to join us for a housewarming celebration on Tuesday, July 10th, at 9063 Milton in Montreal West.
Our customers will enjoy 15% off all in-store purchases, all day long, as well as free gourmet cookies (while they last, of course,) from St-Henri's Sweet Lee's Rustic Bakery.  From 2:30PM to closing, we'll also be treated to a DJ set from Marc Francis, taking time out from his busy music-making schedule as Taperecorder.

Also, you can hear our very own Corinne Van Egmond discuss Edgewood's move and history with Jeannette Kelly on CBC Radio's Home Run. She'll be on the air live on Wednesday, July 4th, at 4:10PM.

I believe we'll also be featured on Global News at 6 tonight, since their camera crew was in earlier today. You'll want to tune in and see if that happens.
**UPDATE: That happened! Click HERE and skip to 21:50 to watch the fam in action.

NEW THINGS HAPPENING AT EDGEWOOD

I have certainly been a bit remised in my updating of the blog, but I think that’s because time goes by so quickly. In an instant its tomorrow and the dynamics of everything is somehow different.  So it is with everything, we all get older; nothing remains the same, our world in constant flux.   Let’s face it, the meaning of life is all about moving forward, learning, adapting and changing with time. This is what makes us both strong and unique.
Not only does this apply to personal growth, but business growth as well. We’ve all seen empty fields transformed to small communities, over flowing with next generation families and eager entrepreneurs. So it is with our business as well.  Having been established when Cote St. Luc was nothing but mere farm land, with only a small scattering of houses.  But there was ambition, and dreams, and thus was the beginning of a changing city.
With growth, inevitably comes diversity.  Our way of life reflecting the stages in our society. The depression, the baby boom, computer age. and so on. Edgewood, as it is known today, has been apart of many of these changes, both to its community, customers, and to itself. We’ve seen horse drawn deliveries, the opening of the Ritz Carlton, to e-mail wedding orders.  My, how things do change with time, don’t they?
Well, time doesn’t stop, and neither do we.  On July 9th of 2012, we will set a new precedence for our selves.  Our present location, will no longer be our home, but a part of our and Cote St. Luc’s history. Now change is not always easy, but it does quite often have the effect of filling us with renewed vigor and vitality.  A new and exciting adventure for all concerned, in our new neighborhood of Montreal West.
Our hearts, of course saddened from leaving our “home” of so many, many years, but time marches on, and we march with it, embracing the changes it brings along. It has given us new found strength, nurtured our spirits, and rekindled our love and inspiration for what we do.
Edgewood, the old, now new, never forgetting its roots, but always reaching for the future.
